Cupcake Wars
A cute and quaint shop in quiet suburban Katy. I drove out here during spring
break hoping to find a fabulous cupcake, I was definitely disappointed. The
shop is cute. It’s on a very quiet street set back from the road behind what
looks to be a small restaurant. The setting is lovely, but the cupcakes really
aren’t.
Cute little downtown bakery! Their rice krispy treats are what really stand
out. They are huge, crispy, buttery, and marshmallowy. Absolutley delicious
and worth the $3. They have plain, chocolate, and fruity flavors too!
Over-rated. Dried out little expensive cupcakes that were not worth going in
for. Creepy kids hanging out inside. I was always curious about this place.
One taste and I’m not a fan. This is a fad and will soon be an open
storefront.
These cupcakes are a touch expensive at over $3/each, but I’m slowly becoming
desensitized to it (scary thought). If I only had the choco-cake I’d be
awarding 3 stars, but that Tres Leches is def worth at least 4, so I’m awarding
3 but calling it 3.5.
Kara’s Cupcakes lovingly creates each batch of cupcakes by hand every day,
using only the finest ingredients sourced from local producers and whenever
possible they are organic and sustainable. Because we continue to bake
throughout the day, we are proud to offer cupcakes that are freshly baked
within hours, if not minutes, for your enjoyment.
They shop the actual making of their desserts out to various baking people
around the city. In a way that’s good. It allows many small bakers to get
exposure for their specialty product city wide. In another way, it’s just
these fast thinking entreprenurial types, having no actual baking skills of
their own, jumping on the truck trend to make some quick dough (cheap pun
intended).
I really like this place. What a gem in the Doylestown Area. The owner/chef
is so friendly and her staff is very nice. But the best part of the visit of
course is the amazing cupcakes. Creative flavors and excellent quality. Just
make sure the cupcake sits out for an hour. Don’t eat them cold, no matter how
tempted you are to chow them down. I have been here a dozen times. Ordered a
birthday cake and have never been disappointed. Worth the a short trip from
downtown D-town,…
Honestly the word that comes to mind is: overrated. The cupcakes are small and
very overpriced. They are yummy, but aren’t most cupcakes? Compared to other
Tallahassee bakeries, these cupcakes just can’t compete.
I don’t know what I would do if I was lactose intolerant! Thankfully, I’m not
and I can inhale all the dairy I want which is exactly what I wanted to do on
my visit to Milk!
Growing up in a Danish family, the owner, Christa had a passion for baking at a
young age. It wasn’t until 2007 when she started dating her first serious
boyfriend that she needed to find a way to impress him. Well, baking was just
the thing. Not only did baking win his heart and a ring on her finger, but it
jumpstarted a new and exciting business for her. Mini Baker has heart, passion
and love baked into each and every treat.
I’m a chocolate addict, but I do like eating the alternatives available at
Mission Minis. If it has coconut (Swiss Almond Coconut) I am all over it.
Cinnamon horchata is like eating the delicious stuff in cupcake form. It’s a
mandatory order. All of the cupcake flavors have really good frosting. It
would be no surprise to find me scraping the box with my finger to get all of
the last bits of frosting out.
I am a huge fan of their peach cobbler cupcake (hearing it/reading it/seeing it
just makes me wanna dance in place!) and cookies & cream is also delicious
(from what I hear). My friends have also ordered their red velvet and
strawberry shortcake cupcakes… and I’ve been told they are “musts.”
Mr. Cupcakes was founded October 2007. There are now three locations, the
first is located at 1216 Van Houten Ave. Clifton, NJ., the second is located in
the Shops at Riverside in Hackensack, NJ, and the third is located at 383
Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell, NJ.
I’ve had more excited & cheerful people help me at the post office & dmv (&
that’s saying a lot). The young girl behind the counter couldn’t be more sour.
Cheer up Charlie, you’re selling cupcakes.
This is the best caterer I’ve EVER used!! They did a “post-wedding” brunch for
about 100 people with an omelette bar, and other fabulous foods and they came
and set up about 2 hours before, with expert servers, handled the crowds
beautifully and cleaned up after. I literally didn’t have to do a thing!
Very professional company. The food was exceptional. The servers were
friendly and made everyone feel comfortable. I will use this caterer again and
again!
I have seen Sift on Cupcake Wars, I follow them on Twitter and receive
e-newsletters from them. But I haven’t had a chance to experience their
deliciousness til this past weekend when a friend and I were sitting at the end
of Oktoberfest and I inquired about the local flavor’s best dessert. She asked
if I liked cupcakes. YES! Have you heard of Sift? YES! I’m not a beer drinker
and I ate all of my snausage so we headed over there. And it was such a short
drive away from…
I have been emailing back and forth with a coworker about the very serious
topic of cupcakes :) We were discussing places we’ve tried and she is convinced
that Smallcakes is heaven on Earth. This cupcakery has been on my list of
places to visit for many months. I have heard mixed reviews, but once she told
me that she couldn’t remember how many cupcakes she ate because everything was
a (happy) blur after the first bite I knew I needed to get more serious about
putting a check mark…
Stopped in here for the second time yesterday and it was SO GOOD. I couldn’t
choose between the 10 or so delicious sounding flavors, so I got the Sweet
Potato and Red Velvet cupcakes, while the hubby chose the Church Lady Chocolate
($3.25 each).
I’ve come to Sticky Fingers a few times, usually for dessert. The brownies are
AMAZING. I’m really not into their cupcakes. The frosting has the consistency
that coats your teeth and makes you feel kinda gross.
Cupcakes are $2.50 - $3.00 each, which is a little pricey, but for the
occasional treat it’s not too bad. My personal favorites are the Reese’s Riot,
Pistachio, and Red Velvet, but it’s always difficult to choose when you are
standing in front of that long glass case filled with the day’s offerings.
