Diners Drive-Ins and Dives
My wife and I don’t even live in the state, but I’ve been there three times
when we would go up to michigan for vacation. We saw the restuarant on Diners,
Drivins, and Dives and had to go.
This is another typical Only-in-New-Orleans, family-style, neighborhood
restaurant. They have all the usual menu options like po-boys, daily specials,
fried seafood dishes, including a huge seafood platter that fed 3 of us.
Best BBQ I’ve ever had! I will never have any other BBQ again. Heard about this
on Diner drive-ins and dives with Guy Fieri. We drove 35 minutes to get here.
If you go looking for this place don’t be worried if you think you are going
the wrong way. It is in a neighborhood. Roll down the windows and let your nose
guide you in.
I love the crazed waiters. I love the owners that come by your table to say
hello and to make sure you are happy. I love the cozy old school ambiance. I
love the food. I love that there is a menu for everyone both vegan and non.
I can see why it has less than desired stars on yelp. The appetizers are always
good, along with the burgers, except the last time i was there, felt like they
SEVERELY skimped out on the chili on our chili cheese fries. I am a chili
cheese snob, and i was not happy. I’d knock a star off for that, but it wasn’t
my first time here.
Being from LA we hadn’t been to one of Guy’s restaurants until this evening &
we brought the whole band & staff there! We were pleasantly surprised & we can
rave about the service & the food.
Two words…. Brick Wings. They rock! Also every time we come here with our
kid we get exemplary service.
Without the amazing service from our attentive waitress, I would give Johnny
Garlic’s only two stars in terms of food. I came here around lunch time with a
friend (the hostess told us it would be a 10-15 minute wait, which I thought
was amusing because the restaurant was half empty).
My husband and I really do like Johnny Garlic’s. I admit I was leery of what we
were about to step into because of the reviews I had read on Yelp. After trying
Johnny Garlic’s on three occasions as a couple and with friends, I decided to
open a Yelp account and put in my experience.
We got there around 11am on a Sat before any crowds. Walked in and wasn’t sure
if we were to sit down or what. The girls at the counter pleasantly said to
order here @ the counter and then they would bring our food out…3 of us got
the burnt ends sandwiches, french fries and fried pickles.
Much time and many Cuban sandwiches have gone by since my last visit and review
of Jose’s. I often reflected back upon my visit nearly a year ago and wonder,
“was it truly THAT amazing, or was it just a romanticized memory?”
Katie’s will always hold a special place in my heart. Growing up in Mid-City,
this was probably my family’s most-visited restaurant when I was a kid. There
have been many great (and yummy) memories of eating the fried shrimp, catfish,
gumbo, and the many other goodies that Katie’s offered.
Come to Where the Locals Eat at Keegan’s Seafood Grille.
I visited here back in June 2009 so it was quite a long time ago but I can
remember the service being great. Their coffee being one of the best coffees
I’ve had in a long time. And the food being great too! We decided to visit
after they were featured on TV and we definitely don’t regret going! It was
great!
Kelly’s Diner is a 1953 Jerry O’Mahoney, two piece dining car.
Dare Anyone to find a better place that have this quality of food.
Specializes in homemade Polish lunches served cafeteria style. Cabbage rolls,
pirogis and sausages.
Blackened chicken salad was on the special menu the Friday we were there, and
it was huge with generous portions of chicken and tasty dressing. In addition,
a Po-boy, the one Guy ate, which I thought was only so-so, but the plate of
onion rings could have been a whole meal, wonderful :)
Yes it is hole in the wall, super loud, packed, cash-only, no seats, very
limited parking spots… I had to park my SUV on the street.
Saltenas, dumpling-like baked pastry pockets filled with a stew of meats and
veggies.
