Diners Drive-Ins and Dives
Known for old-world Italian food, including traditional and east-coast pizza.
potato pancakes, hand made milkshakes, burgers
I’m giving the Landmark 4 stars because of their delicious Mousaka. It took a
while but that was because they made it fresh, and man was it YUMMY! One of the
only places in Charlotte that serve Mousaka, which is the Greek version of
Lasagna…only better (IMHO). Oh, and the Greek desserts were very yummy as
well, like their Baklava.
The restaurant is in the middle of a neighborhood in Midtown, which stuck me as
odd when I first arrived. Parking was extremely awkward as I had to parallel
park up next to somebody’s home and walk down a few blocks since there wasn’t
much parking available.
I grew up eating bierocks, and these are close. They are quite peppery, and I
love pepper. They are not as good as what I grew up with, but they do the
trick considering how much work it is to make them from scratch.
I first went here in 2011 and took my family for lunch b/c it was close to our
home. I remember it being fine - we had sandwiches, a Mediterranean plate, a
small lunch - sized steak, etc. and everything was basically good. It just
wasn’t a place I thought of to go again. Then, about two months ago, I threw it
out as a option of a close place to meet a friend for lunch, and since then, my
husband and I have been back several times.
Excellent food! They give pretty decent sized portions as well. As a tip, I’d
recommend going about an hour before they close down and they are a LOT more
liberal with their serving size.
Went with my bf and we both got the buffet. Very reasonably priced..under $20
pp for all u can eat. This included several meats…sides…salad…dessert.
Sweet tea was really good.
Fantastic breakfast, mad respect for the art of the diner and hella cool wait
staff.
Johnny cakes are brilliant but far more impressive is the respect the staff has
for the legacy of their craft.
I tried some of my cousins pozole and it was also great. Lots of flavor and a
lot of meat and hominy. The only problem, well its not really a problem, but
the food coma sets in after eating here. I managed to finish my entire plate
and then proceeded to take a nap.
A few weeks ago, my friend Craig of the blog Memphis Que wrote that he was
having trouble finding places to blog about. Given that his blog’s focus is on
barbecue and Soul Food restaurants, this surprised me. I responded by listing
places that I either experienced or heard great things about. Among the
restaurants mentioned, one of them is head and shoulders above the rest.
My first trip to Pittsburgh, I stayed in Coraopolis and wanted some spaghetti
and the GPS pulled this place up but they were closed that day, but a cute
little place.
A friend from out of town was visiting and wanted to go here after seeing it on
Food Network. I had never heard of it but thought it would be a different
place to try.
Wow! I grew up in Tucson, AZ so I am very particular about this type of food
and take most Mexican restaurants outside of AZ with a grain of salt (no pun
intended). Lone Star is the real deal.
I can’t believe that I forgot about this place! I was first introduced to Los
Tap by my friend almost three years ago and didn’t realize how big of a punch
in the face it was going to be. If commercial Mexican food isn’t your thing,
then come here for some nice home style cooking.
I like others hear about this from DDD, but I wasn’t going to hold that against
it. This place is fantastic having delicious food and reasonable prices. They
have the best Chile Reno Burrito I have had in the area.
Louie Mueller is a perfect example of “less is more.” It will not be
appreciated by the big city clowns who think Dickey’s, Bill Miller’s or Spring
Creek are standards by which to rate BBQ.
Fluffy crabmeat omelettes and grillades and grits for breakfast, catfish
po-boys for lunch.
I have eaten several times at Louies now. For me, the pizza is good but not my
top 5 in Dallas. Yet, my fiance’s family would disagree. I prefer a neopolitan
pizza with really fresh, authentic ingredients.
