Diners Drive-Ins and Dives
Their Ahi burger and garlic fries and milk shakes are the best in the West!
I know we’ve always had a delicious, well prepared breakfast at Tecolote Cafe.
But it’s the small basket of muffins and biscuits that we remember most. And,
Tecolote serves warm muffins and biscuits to every patron as they sit down.
Nice!
Still the best fish spread around. Every time I come to St. Pete I do an
informal sampling of the area’s offerings in two areas: grouper sandwiches and
smoked fish spread. It seems that every restaurant in the area has at least one
of these on the menu. In fact I doubt smoked fish spread (SFS) would be on ANY
bay area menu were it not for Ted Peters.
Former 4-star sous chef in Hawaii opened this bar with his wife. He changes up
the menu.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here. But be advised this place is
not for the thrifty. But if you are willing to splurge you will not be
disappointed!
My second visit. Our waitress was really nice but service was really slow. The
restaurant wasn’t busy but it took a good 5 minutes for a hostess to
acknowledge and seat us. We were told that someone called in sick and they were
short staffed, but we witnessed servers having some “down time.” There were
several tables that hadn’t been bussed, and still hadn’t by the time we left.
We came in here around 9 on a Friday night because not many other restaurants
were still seating. The hostess told us it would be a 15 minute wait so went to
use the restroom and by the time we came back a table was ready. We were happy
about that because we were starving!
If you are looking for a no frills, fun destination dinner hike on out to Texas
Pride Barbecue in Adkins. This is an interesting place with the feel of a back
yard barbecue. The drive is lovely country side and the food is excellent.
LOVED this place. I was on a cross county road trip and this place was a great
stop. We had bagel breakfast sandwich to go, and the came back to get house
made bagel chips and smear for the road. The staff was great, and everyone in
the place (you can also dine in) looked like a local or someone who knows where
to find the good food.
Just outstanding! ….the best BLT sandwich I’ve ever had. Hearty, flavorful,
crunchy, yet so fresh tasting. It’s one of those things you eat than instantly
get a craving for days later- again and again. Their seafood which my friend
had was equally fresh tasting and portions were incredibly filling.
Great wings, cheap pub food, dollar drafts friendly service!
I had heard some great things about this place from a friend so i decided to
give the Blue Door a shot this week.
The food is phenomenal. Of what I’ve tried so far, The Reilly burger is my
favorite: goat cheese, thick toast, pesto, tomatoes and the patty (which a sub
out for a turkey burger). Love their crinkle-cut sweet potato fries, too. And
pricing is very reasonable.
Guy fieri was right. This place may seem a bit unreliable from the outside, but
once you step in an move past the bar to the food, you know you’ve made the
right choice.
I had the Ranchero burger (which is smothered in chili verde) OMG was it heaven
in my mouth! It was busy in there so go early if possible or your have a bit of
a wait. But my service was excellent anyways busy or not!
I think this was one of the best places I ate at during my time in Alaska. Good
service, decent prices, quality food.
This place has my name written all over it. Not literally but fell in love with
this place! Total dive bar serving grass fed and free range food! Originally
a car wash but that seems like every famous place in Texas (car wash/gas
station). Well the food was great! Beer selection was great even though thy
were out of two beers i selected. They had at least another 50 to choose from.
Service was cool. Total 5 in my book.
We came here every Friday(and still try to) since fish is the blue plate
special (comes with soup or salad) and everytime the food never disappointed.
Before I went here I had recommendations from yelpers and I read all the
reviews. So, I was pretty pumped to hopefully find a sweet breakfast spot. My
husband and I have a Sunday morning tradition we’re trying to start back up
here, which is going out for Sunday morning breakfast. Well we actually went on
a Monday before we took his mother to the airport, and it was pretty busy.
It’s been a long time since I’ve eaten in the diner side (that’s because my
all-time favorite NE Philly diner is the Liberty Bell), but I needed a pie, and
Dining Car makes their own everyday including awesome loaves of bread.
