Diners Drive-Ins and Dives
My husband and I really loved the Early Bird Diner! It’s a little diner off
Savannah Hwy with a lot of character- lots of fun art on the walls, random
books and games that you can read or play with while you wait on your food…
pretty neat little place. We arrived early and were seated immediately, it was
pretty empty when we got there because it was about 5 in the afternoon, but it
was packed when we left (I think they close for a bit between lunch and
dinner).
It is a unique little diner with a fun and tasty menu. The sign of a good
restaurant is one that has limited options. It is an indication they focus on
being good at what they do - rather than try to cater to everyone.
This place is great! As soon as you walk in someone is asking you if you need
help. If you look like no one is helping you then you will be asked again which
is nice.
My wife and I met chef Sarah O’Kelley in Atlanta at a soul food cooking class.
She is hilarious, fun to talk to, and an amazing chef, having trained/worked at
Emeril’s restaurants in N’Awlins and elsewhere. She is easily identifiable by
her headband, which seems to be a permanent fixture.
I started out going here in college to have a fun night of drinking etc. We
always had a great time, good drinks, and it was full of people.
In business since 1992, The Highlander has been a fixture of Atlanta’s late
night party scene.
Funky Bywater spot filled with wood benches, two types of sauce on every table,
a great jukebox.
The kitchen is located in downtown Oxnard, and it’s a nice place with a a cool
dim-lit interior. Our waiter was professional, helpful, attentive and nice.
The waitress was a doll and will not hesitate to ask people to slide down to
the next bar stool if a larger party comes in and there are not enough open
adjacent seats. Prepare to get cozy and make new friends.
This place is great. I went on a Thursday night for dinner. I had mussels,
onion soup, and rack of lamb, and everything was delicious.
This is a favorite spot for my family and I; we are quick to mention it to
family and friends so that they too can try it out! The service is warm and
friendly, and although I know most people complain about the wait times, we are
consistently seated quickly. My fav dish is the Apfel Pfannekuchen, a rich
combination of all things yummy!!
A restaurant diner in downtown los angeles. serving breakfast lunch dinner.
I had Eggs Sardou which is a pouched egg over creamed spinach, artichoke, and
an english muffin. A lot of great flavors packed into this tasty dish. The
coffee was standard dinner type and the cream was individual cups, but
refrigeration was required (score for me). The biscuit was also solid and you
could tell it was homemade.
Great great great!! Worth the drive, and worth a wait if there is one! I’ve
only been here for breakfast/brunch, but plan to make it out for lunch/dinner
too!
We’ve been to this place dozens of times. The menu is huge, but there is only
thing we order. The $8 banana shake and large falafel combo. The banana shake
is made fresh (just look at all the bananas) and is amazing. Their falafel
balls are always hot. Don’t forget to ask for extra red sauce.
I stopped here when I was back on the south side recently. I had heard about
this place back in the day from people that live on the southwest side.It
definitely lived up to the hype. I wish there was more pizza of this caliber on
the north side.
It’s a classic drive-in, not a gourmet food vendor. Don’t overdo the
expectations. It’s awesome as a nostalgic American drive-in.
Very cool old building, good snapper soup, large prime rib portions and the
best rice pudding.
I believe everything the Food Network tells me so when I found out that Guy
stopped by this place on DDD and loved the Cuban I had to go (especially now
since I’m down the block).
Pretty much every time I go, it’s for Curry & a Pint night. I like their
chicken tikka spicy. The fish and chips is pretty good too. That’s about the
extent of their menu I’ve tried. It’s not that I’m not an adventurous eater
(I’ve been eating escargots since i was 8)……but the aforementioned dishes
are just so damned good that it’s what I always end up ordering.
