Unique Eats
It was a cloudy afternoon in the city and we were looking for a nice local spot
for some light food and drinks. This place was perfect! We sat at the bar and
enjoyed great wine which was parred with a sampler of cheeses/meats/bread/fruit
that was excellent. The bartender was awesome, very attentive and knowledgeable
of the food and wine. We will surely return to this bistro.
The vegan cupcakes are just perfect. I was particularly obsessed with the
spelt option - so much lighter and easier to digest!
After an “exciting” meeting with a client in the area, my boss, colleague and I
thought we DESERVED a “snack” before we returned to the office.
On a brisk night, way after sunset, a group of four young gentlemen arrived at
the hallowed eatery of Westchester. After a quick drink at the bar we were
escorted to our table at the dining room. Warmth set in with the aid of a well
selected wine from the interesting list.
I had see this joint profiled on the Yahoo list of Top 10 taco joints in
America. Even though it took a 45-minute drive to the blue line and then a
15-minute trip on the blue line, I had to try it out.
When my company’s board of directors announced they were coming to town, they
had a clear idea of the type of place they wanted to go to for dinner. Must
have great food, an amazing wine list, a quiet private room and NO CHAINS!
So, mine will be review number 599 for Blue Duck Tavern. I really don’t give
out five star reviews lightly, but this was an amazing experience.
The fact that Blue Hill doesn’t have three Michelin stars shows that there is a
huge flaw in their rating system. After dining here, I’m going to have to go
back and re-rate all of the restaurants I’ve been to, using Blue Hill as the
new standard. Ok, I probably won’t re-rate everything, but Blue Hill has
definitely set a new standard for food, especially when referring to
restaurants that serve “farm to table.”
Went to El Real last night. The place was super busy, however the service was
still strong. Ordered fajitas. They were a bit more expensive than you’d pay
for fajitas at any other tex-mex place. However, you do get improved
value-for-money to the point where it’s still a good deal. The free chips and
salsa were good as well, tho I would have liked to seen a green sauce along
with the red. The fajitas came out sizzling, so the timing was good. Also
came with a very interesting…
AMAZING!! We went on a Wednesday and made that grandma sweat! We were a big
group so we got to try a lot of different appetizers and dishes- pretty much
all of them were a hit! The lamb testicle sausages, the oxtail, the grilled
artichoke, the lamb hearts, the conch salad, the veal sausage- even the sheep’s
face! Really, there were no losers that night!
Tucked away in the heights my boyfriend and I were looking for a place one day
that offered macaroons. I’ve always wanted to try these delights since they are
so popular on the west coast.
Let’s not forget the sides. Their crispy, natural cut fries are highly
addictive. Especially when dipped in the garlic aioli. If you’re hankering for
some comforting pasta, the Truffle Mac & Cheese is a must-try item.
“The burger is so moist it’s not like you have to chew!” That is literally what
a friend said when she finished her burger.
The ‘regular’ burgers are full of flavor and are not dried out. They’re so
good, a friend and I challenged ourselves to a 5 patty cheese burger with
fries. Even then, the burgers were cooked perfectly and still full of flavor.
The fries are done just right and could eat them all day long.
First time having Filipino food, and I loved it!
This is an ABSOLUTE MUST if you’re able to make it to North Shore. I would
recommend get food at one of the shrimp trucks or at Opal’s then head here for
dessert!
I am mildly obsessed with this place and since I work only a couple blocks
away, this is my go-to lunch spot! The concept combines my two favorite
cuisines: Mexican and Barbecue. It does not get much better than that.
If you’ve live in LA and have ventured out for food at any point in the last 2
years, you wouldn’ve heard of Zarate. I tried Mas Malo in downtown as a preview
and was a bit underwhelmed. That said, I had read so much press about Picca and
life kept getting in the way. Having previously cancelled twice (I never
cancel!), there was an unusual amount of anticipation built up when I finally
got around to trying Picca and it was, well I don’t want to spoil it so read
the rest of the…
In short, Pondicheri is a great establishment. Not only do the interiors
reflect a cool industrial feel, but the location is tucked and hidden. More
importantly, the food is fantastic.
Wow. What can I say except the best pizza I ever ever eaten in this country.
Yes, it is that good. Trust me, this is how neapolitan pizza should be. They
are true artisans. They are recognized by pizzaiolo association in Napoli,
Italy. All of their ingredients are of the best quality and even sourced from
Italy, i.e. cheese from Modena, prosciutto from Parma, tomatoes fromSan
Marzano, etc. I think even thelour is from Naples.
