Unique Eats
If I didn’t know it already, the star of any meal at Ubuntu is the vegetables.
We started with a chilled soup as an amuse bouche. It was a clear broth, with
pea carcasses and asparagus, topped with green garlic and an edible flower. It
was bracingly cold and salty.
I’m writing this about two weeks after my visit here and I have been thinking
about the Arepa ever since…
If you complain about the price, then there’s something wrong with your taste
buds. Period. This isn’t Ben&Jerry’s - you can’t eat a pint in one sitting.
Out of the five dishes we ordered including dessert, I was satisfied by all and
extremely impressed by most, which is rarely the case even at non-vegetarian
restaurants.
This might just be my favorite restaurant in Philly and I will definitely be
coming back!
Village Whiskey, a place famous (rightly so) for their burger. I’ll get there,
don’t worry… but first I’d like to bring up the restaurant’s namesake: Their
whiskey/scotch/bourbon/rye selection is outstanding! And the special bartenders
there know a thing or twenty about what they are serving. They prepare the
whiskey to perfection– neat, rocks, Old Fashioned, Vieux Carre… their Old
Fashioned is one of the best made in the city. Also note, I love…
I sat at the bar and had 2 items from the pre-fixe menu… and I was
immediately convinced that I would return for the entire pre-fixe menu when I
find myself on the lower east side again.
Made a trip to Little Italy on a whim to try this place out, and I’m super glad
we did. The old Baricelli Inn has been completely remodeled, and the
surroundings are beautiful. The drink/wine list is great…and the food was
delicious.
This place used to be a coffee shop in its last life. When we lived in Mar
Vista, my wife and I used to frequent it.So, when it opened up as an “upscale”
restaurant, we thought we give it a try.
Our strategic planner scheduled our late night sojourn to Whiskey Soda Lounge
the night before Pok Pok, serving both as preview to its parent and a fair
chance to appreciate it on its own terms. Opened by the same team as Pok Pok,
the charmingly ramshackle Lounge is often treated as their glorified waiting
room, which is unfortunate because it is better enjoyed as a separate entity.
I took my parents on a family vacation to New Orleans, I looked for places that
they may enjoy and they are big fans of friend chicken. I called in advance to
make sure their sides were meat free and most of them were, I was happy to hear
that their red beans and rice are safe, I am cool with just that.
Rodilanders, take your guests here for the scenery, the chicken, and the fries.
Order them not to waste precious stomach space on the pasta. Just chicken &
fries–and a little salad if you want. Wright’s is a gigantic banquet hall in
the middle of nowhere, which, when you’re in Rhode Island, is still just
minutes away from civilization.
Came here at 2pm for lunch. Had heard great things about Rick Bayless, and was
not disappointed. The wait was about 45 minutes for my party of 4. They have a
weird, strict order of doing things. Wait in line, wait for your table, then
you order, and then you can sit and they’ll bring you food.
The first time I want to this place I felt like part of their family. Please
know that you have a loyal costumer for life!!!!!
Jitlada Thai is a hidden gem in the dodgy neighborhood. The menu offers many
different non-generic (pad thai, panang curry, and so on) options, so it’s
perfect for ur fellow Yelper to new discover new favorites.
I just realized I have never written a review even though I have been eating
here for over a year now. So, here it goes.
Decided to give this place another try. Beers are good but really, the food
isn’t that great. Had the chicken which was flavorless and bland. The chocolate
tart was meh. For the price they charge, the foods not even aesthetically
pleasing. I definitely don’t believe the people who rave about the food even
mean it, either that or they’ve never had a good, flavorful meal in their
entire life.
A girlfriend and I split a mountain of mussels & DUCK FAT potatoes. These are
the moules all others have to stand up to now.
Good atmosphere and perfect place for taking visitors from out of town.
I brought someone for business dinner and It turned out to be a good one.
LAMILL Coffee is one of the better coffee houses & roasters in LA. I’d
personally rank the espresso fourth after Cognoscenti, Single Origin and
Intelligentsia.
I was recently here for an event that was hosted by MasterCard & Priceless NYC,
which was a Build Your Own Gingerbread House event, which was hosted in
Landmarc’s private dining room.
