Birch and Barley
If you’re visiting DC, pleeeease do yourself a favor and make a reservation at this place. The food, drinks, service, and ambience were OUT OF THIS WORLD. We arrived at 6pm on a Saturday with no reservation expecting to be turned away, but we got lucky and landed a spot at the full-service dining bar.
I also went in expecting the hostess to be snooty (they usually are) but everyone we encountered, from the hostess to the busboys, was outgoing, friendly, and warm. We were told before we were seated that it was the bartender’s first night going solo, so I was a little worried…but she was awesome. She was so knowledgable about the menu and beer selection.
Now, I am not typically a beer drinker, but their 50+ craft beers on tap (yes you read that right) and the fact that you can order 4oz glasses a la carte for $2-$3 a pop, to try different things…awesome. Onto the food…my boyfriend and I shared everything.
