Maybe it’s just because I can’t get the South County out of me, but I love this
place. Granted it’s a little smokey, the service can be slow, and the left
turn from Lindbergh can be a pain, but it’s still as good as a South County
dive can get.
My favorite restaurant in STL (well, neck-and-neck with Niche and that family
of restaurants).
My son loves Indian food. A good friend told me about this hidden secret. We
are from South Texas and we always stop here and load up on delicious food.
There Somoas are delicious! My sons favorite is Chicken curry with vegetable
curry and rice. The best I’ve eaten so far. I do recommend! You will not be
disappointed. The prices are also wonderful.
As a vegetarian, I knew I would be limited to Smoki O’s side dishes. But I was
delighted to find out that the barbequed spaghetti is vegetarian. I paired it
with some tasty green beans and cornbread.
Friendly staff, yummy food, and plenty of it. While the cemitas (sandwich on a
sweet tasty bread) were marvelous, I’d say the homemade chorizo on the chalupa
was the highlight - the chalupas are quite big.
Confections of a Rock$tar is a designer & specialty theme cakes and so much
more!
A friend of mine who grew up in Clear Lake told me to check this place out. It
got good reviews so hubby and I decided to give it a try. We drove for 40
minutes to this place so it better be good! It’s kind of out in the middle of
nowhere. The parking lot was full, that’s a good sign. We walked up to the
restaurant and there’s plenty of seating outside and inside for those who
prefer air conditioning. No children and pets allowed and they only accept
cash. You seat…
Martin’s did an incredible job catering our rehearsal dinner at the Mercy
Lounge the night before our wedding. We already knew their food is amazing but
I was really impressed with the friendly and helpful staff and the
presentation. They set up all of the food in cool vintage wooden boxes that
covered the basic buffet pans and looked great!
Tried this on a random Sat. evening with AT. Super delicious pork belly–and I
don’t even like pork belly normally. I’m not crazy about it because it’s too
heavy for me usually (not a bacon lover–people think I’m nuts!). They
specialize in pork belly and now I know why!
Came during the dinner rush but that’s OK, we were able to sit at the kitchen
bar & watch the magic happen. Cool stuff happens behind the kitchen, I get to
see how the eggs are perfectly made, the fries cooked in beef tallow, what
ketchup leather is, and the meticulous plating served in rustic skillets.
A super casual space for the laid back carnivore & beer enthusiasts. Music is
not absurdly loud. Great place to grab some beer, delicious bites, & catch up
with friends. Not recommended to bring your vegetarian friends or weight
watcher boys and girls.
Though service was bizarre, the staff was nonetheless warm & friendly.
My gf and I went on our first date to Catalan when Chris Shepard was there and
she just loved the lamb. It broke our heart when Catalan closed but we could
not wait to try Underbelly. We loved it! She got her lamb and was a happy girl.
Nice little joint that we checked out on a Sunday afternoon post-Church
service. Very clean restaurant that is definitely a step up from your average
fast food burger joint. It is large enough that you could probably bring a
decently sized group here for an after sporting event meal or something like
that. It helps that this little strip of restaurants on North Ave all have
quality food, so you have to serve quality food, or you won’t last! Service
was friendly and fast!
It was very hard for me not to go next door to DMK burger for one of my all
time favorite burgers coming from a self proclaimed connoisseur but we wanted
to try something new. I was not disappointed. I really wanted the full belly
clams but they were out so I opted for fish fries (smelt) and an oyster po boy.
Everything was so fresh and so clean like Outkast. My wife’s clam chowder was
one of the best soups I have tasted and comes highly recommended if you like
creamy soups or chowders.…
Best bone in pork chop sandwich ever. Fish sandwich is a VERY close second.
I’ve never honestly gotten around to eating anything else there in my many
years as i just can’t get around to ordering anything else. the fries are
bomb, and so are the hot peppers. Guys working the counter are friendly and
funny in their own way. If you think the area there is sketchy (especially now
after the massive gentrification in the area the past 5-10 years), then you
need to head back to your white…
I didn’t have the pleasure of taking any meat home so this review is based
solely on my dine in experience.
Big food, big beer, and big people–it really is a local landmark, the type of
place where the waitress calls you honey. I had the pork tenderloin and a
basket of onion rings which was enough for about 5 people. Everything was deep
fried to perfection. The atmosphere is half bar half restaurant and all Peoria.
Surprisingly, not a lot of options for the vegetarian.
A few back, I took a friend out for his birthday at the Trencherman. I had
been wanting to try it for a while, and his birthday seemed like the perfect
occasion. Even though it was a Monday, I made a 7:30pm reservation and read a
bunch of reviews beforehand. He arrived first, so I met him at the bar, and we
were then seated right away. It wasn’t packed, but there were definitely a lot
of people there for a Monday night.
