Ah The Winery, what a fantastic place! So a couple of months ago, I was out
with some friends on a Friday night for a beer or two. We started at Republic.
My original plan was to have two, maybe three beers and then call it a night.
Seems they have moved from Cave creek road to West Bell. Glad they are still
around. This is the closest thing to Kansas city Barbecue in this town, No
doubt. Keep up the good work Roger!!
The manager/owner came and played with the camera I had out. He took our
picture and talked to us about how he use to have fancy cameras and take great
photographs. Then he told us about how he use to jam on the guitar. I liked how
friendly he was.
As for the customer service it was great. Even though we ordered are food in a
fast food fashion, we were never forgotten. They were constantly filling our
water and making sure we were enjoying ourselves.
This place is a must eat at, small hole in the wall place but rich in flavor
and taste. When you get there have an order of onion rings then dive into a
chicken fried steak plate and it will be enough food to satisfy any hunger.
I’ve tried the fried chicken and another one of those must have plates, and if
you have room try a piece of homemade pie “different varieties”. You won’t be
disappointed with this place. Been here twice and will definitely come back and
indulge…
If the Indian Taco isn’t your scene, the Medicine Wheel Nachos won’t
disappoint. The melted cheese they smother the chips in was recently altered by
adding more green chiles and deliciousness. All I could say when I tried it
was “mmmmm cheese”.
Roast beef with yorkshire pudding and some proper hot horse radish. Also lots
of mashed potatoes with gravy and grilled vegetables.
I was in the mood for a turkey dinner, so I dragged one of my friends here for
lunch and ordered the turkey plate. To be perfectly honest, it was sort of
bland. But it was still comforting in a way, and for the price, it was ‘aite.
I’m a big fan of Tortilla Cafe because it offers carefully prepared, well
seasoned food for reasonable prices. It’s really the only reasonably priced
restaurant I have found in DC. I’ also think that Tortilla Cafe is highly
underrated by patrons of Barracks Row and Eastern Market who are often drawn to
glitzier places or big box restaurants.
Such a great little place if as mentioned you can find a seat. It’s the
perfect storm of really popular and really small. I personally only go to the
OBX in the offseason to avoid crowds but even then it can be a challenge to get
a seat.
It’s our pleasure to provide our employees with a fair and fun work
environment.
Today my friends and I held a surprise 30th birthday lunch at Traffic Jam &
Snug and it went flawlessly!
Let’s be real here, when I order corned beef hash at other places, I’m
comparing it to the one at Tre Kronor. It’s the perfect combination of tender
meaty goodness, crisp potatoes and fluffy eggs. A masterpiece.
The Dwayne Purvis Burger! Burger, fully loaded with creamy peanut butter.
Awesome!
Family-run (and cash-only) restaurant at the eastern edge of Little Italy near
the United Center.
For all of you who think this is a 5 star over priced restaurant that will
cater to your every need, what is it that you think this place is? It’s a bar,
a dive bar at that. Their purpose is not to make you feel like royalty when you
walk through the doors, their job is to make you feel like a welcome regular
human being who wants to sit down and enjoy a couple of drinks, good food, and
casual conversation.
This place is absolutely the go-to favorite when you need a little sumpin’
sumpin’. Dave’s Not Here anymore, and I miss it too, but the tune up hits the
spot. I drive straight here whenever I come to town.
RICHARDSON AND ROANOKE HOURS: 7 days a week for lunch and dinner from 11am to
9pm-ish
I don’t even know how to talk about Uncle Lou’s. If you’re expecting a
delicious blend of fried foods and a wonderfully local atmosphere, look no
further than Uncle Lou’s. There’s really nothing fancy about this place. You
walk in, see some tables, lots of people and a giant menu with quick snapshots
of each item for easy pickin’.
A group of friends and I took a drive out here to see what the fuss was about.
I have to admit, even after a 1.5 hour wait it was sooo worth it. I chose the
ribs, baked Mac n cheese and let me tell ya the Mac n cheese was unreal.
